Introduction
An Accredited Center (PB) refers to a skills training provider, whether a training institution or workplace, approved by the Department of Skills Development (JPK) to conduct skills training and offer the Malaysian Skills Certification for specific fields and skill levels based on the National Occupational Skills Standard (NOSS). Prior Achievement Recognition (PPT) is a method for recognising any individual who can demonstrate previous experience and achievements that meet the competencies outlined in the National Occupational Skills Standard (NOSS).
The Institut Sosial Malaysia (ISM) is registered as a Full Accredited Center (PB-Penuh) and PPT Accredited Center (PB-PPT) for the Community Service Operation Program (Q889-003-3:2021) Level 3 and the Elderly Care Center Operation Program (CC-013-3:2013) Level 3.ISM was granted Accredited Center (PB) status on 28 March 2017 and has since begun awarding certification through the Prior Achievement Recognition (PPT) method for the respective programs.
The establishment of the ISM Accredited Center aims to:
- Enhance access to education by providing opportunities for individuals to acquire new skills and knowledge, thereby promoting lifelong learning and socio-economic empowerment;
- Address workforce needs by aligning training programs with industry demand to bridge the skills gap and ensure a qualified workforce, contributing to economic growth and competitiveness through the programs offered; and
- Develop more skilled and knowledgeable social workers and social practitioners to further strengthen the nation's social development.
A fee of RM450.00 is charged.
Eligibility for SKM program enrollment:
- Malaysian citizen
- Aged 17 years and above
- Physically healthy
- Relevant work experience (over 3 years)
